Patrice’s story is the Naiade story

The venture started back in 1986, when an investment opportunity arose, leading to the birth of Le Tropical, a small three-star property on the East Coast of the island.

25 years later, when Patrice Hardy left the Group, this humble business enterprise had blossomed into a major hotel group, listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius and generating inexcess of €100 million in turnover per year and employing some 3,000 staff. By then, the Group owned resorts in three countries, with six resorts and a private island in Mauritius, two resorts in Reunion Island including the only five-star property there, and one resort in the Maldives - with regional sales offices in France, the UK, Italy and Germany, as well as a Tour Operator in South Africa. Guests came not only from Europe and South Africa, but also from Asia (mainly Japan, South Korea and China), the Middle East, Australia and Russia, as well as the neighbouring French island of Reunion. At one point, Naiade also managed the Desroches Island Lodge in the Seychelles for a two-year period, during which time it was admitted to the select band of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Through all this Patrice acquired a range of skills over and above those of a visionary, necessarily including hotel management, strategic planning, knowledge of the tourism market and marketing techniques and how to obtain international financing. This was all supported by his ability to identify and seize opportunities, as well as a talent for surrounding himself with gifted colleagues upon whom he could rely.
